Decorative items can accentuate a room. They do not have to attract the eye and be as well obvious, as this small subdued statue shows. Hand carved in cream and beige colors, it can take time and a state of mind to be noticed. Once a moment has been seized, your guests, or yourself can take the time to look and appreciate the sentiments expressed in this work of art.

Mirrors can be a great way to add a feeling of space to any room, yet at times they may take away from the intimacy you may want to have there. One great solution is a screen of mirrors, which you can choose if and when to locate at which room. This screen will hide one side, creating privacy, while creating more room elsewhere.

The three panel divider, with its antique style mahogany frame can fit well into any large room that requires the option for temporary separation. It works well in the bedroom, where the mirror side can be useful for creating a nice private dressing area. It can also be used whenever you need to create a more private sleeping space, breaking a larger room into more intimate corners. When no longer in need, this unit is easy to fold up and store away.

Solid wood is a classic way to create a distinguished opulent look and feel in a room, but not the only way, as this brown chaise lounger proves so well.

The cherry finished legs are beautiful but they aren't that dominant in the overall look. What makes this piece of furniture so luxurious is the very shape of the chaise lounger – inviting for a single person to put his or her feet up and relax in peace.
The color is crucial as well, brown as wood, it's both soothing and masculine at the very same time, making this lounger a perfect choice for offices and waiting rooms, as well as a more official living room. It could also work well in a more masculine bedroom, but do not be afraid to soften it a little with a nice warm throw, ready to be wrapped around some lucky person's shoulders.
And if you think a lounger isn't functional enough, keep in mind that this one hides plenty of storage room there as well, right under that seat.

My kids absolutely loved these, and so would any fan of fantasy fiction. Imagine this pair holding up your Tolkien trilogy, or the seven books of Harry Potter or the Narnia chronicles.

They're wonderfully decorative, graced with rich detail and made of polyresin, and would be wonderful in any imaginative kid's bedroom, although if the child is as well young, you should make sure he or she isn't scared by the fierce figurines. These can also make a unique gift for kids and adults alike.

When you combine solid wood, graceful classic lines and a cherry finish, you get that distinguished look that is good enough for royalty. This night stand isn't an original Louis Phillipe, but it provides a good example of how period furniture, or furniture inspired by them can create the right atmosphere in a bedroom.

Bedrooms are made for relaxation, so the calming effect of this furniture style can be just perfect. It may not be the focus of the room, but it does accent it. Make sure you balance it out with the right fabrics and textures in the room, to avoid a room that is as well formal (unless of course it's what your aiming for with your design).
This is the sort of furniture that stands the test of time, both in terms of style and functionality. Quality storage, including a felt lined jewelry drawer, and personal space for you to locate your belongings as you go to sleep.

This end table features such a typical Hokkaido look, you may be familiar with it from computer games even! Every home design computer game that offers “Asian” as a decor style, usually has these small tables with light coming out of the paper shade. You just can't get more Japanese than this.

The beauty of this piece is that it also conveys a sense of simplicity, that makes it easier to incorporate as an Asian touch in nearly any style of decor, particularly more formal styles. A selection of four colors (black, natural pine, honey oak or the cherry rosewood shown over here) making it even more compatible with nearly any bedroom. The diffused light adds warmth and softens the formality of the squared lattice.

Some furniture have a definite contemporary look and when it comes to a Plasma TV stand, a contemporary look is nearly required. After all, harmony in form and function is always pleasing, and when the function involves a high-tech Twenty-First Century object, what else would you expect but a sleek design like this:

How you work this into your living room, or perhaps bedroom, design is a dissimilar question. Fortunately, the design over here uses light colors, so it should be easy enough to have it blend into an airy well-spaced contemporary room, allowing whatever is displayed on the screen to draw the eye to it.
It's not as well huge, and if your TV is larger than a 42″ screen, then keep looking. If the size is right though, then this can be a great option, allowing for comfortable storage of your media, as well as appliances.

Designing your office room is always a challenge, even more so when the office isn't is a designated room and has to fit into a living room or a bedroom. While there are many styles that can be applied to the office space, the one that often dominates our vision of a study or an office is the more formal style. Heavy wooden furniture have always been the emblem of a distinguished office, along with huge leather armchairs and shelves stacked with old books.
Well, you may not be able to re-create that fancy Victorian dream office in your home. It requires both space and a hefty budget. What you can do instead, is opt for a more compact office center, encompassing your office requires in one stylish armoire, such as this one by Harwick (available on Amazon):

The elegant simple lines, the dark wood, and the stressed finish with red highlights create a look that simply calls out for you to sit down and write, doesn't it? The shelves and drawers are adjustable, so this unit is extremely functional, as well as beautiful. Add a comfortable office chair and you have the perfect work area that can be easily fit into any room in the home. It looks beautiful whether in use, or shut down to hide the modern contents.

When decorating a child's room, one thing to keep in mind is how the decor style and color scheme will look a few years later, as the child grows. Decor items, fabrics, wall and window treatments can be made a change with relative ease and on a budget. Furniture on the other hand, are often more substantial and more expensive, so these are the times where you apply a long-term mindset.
This isn't to say that furniture need to have a “grown-up” feel to them. Take this bed for example, part of the “Vanilla Cream” bedroom set that includes six pieces of furniture, including a 6-drawer dresser, 5-drawer tall chest, nightstand, twin-size bookcase headboard, this 3-drawer twin mates bed, and mirror.

The neutral vanilla cream color and the easy-on-the-eye classic country design make this bed easily compatible with many styles. With the right bedroom decor, it can fit into a fantasy princess room or into a more mature, yet feminine, teenager's bedroom.
Linen, throw pillows, surrounding walls, curtains, will all come into play, as this bedroom set evolves through the years and with some thought, it can even work as a guest bedroom as your girl moves out of the home.

I love quilts. I think they're the ultimate bedroom decor item. Handmade quilts even more so. They provide a sense of “home” like few other items do. I really like this one, with its simple design of stars and squares – simple and crafted by hand in warm reddish tones. I like how they added the checkered pattern into this quilt. It just screams out “home”, well in a mellow quiet tone

This quilt is gorgeous and very affordable at $49 at the time of writing these lines. With so much work put into it and such a detailed wonderful finish, this is an awesome price for a piece of interior decor that can really add a special touch to any room. An awesome gift for winter time and the holidays:

its title taken from Suzhou, the canal big city an hour from Shanghai and home to luscious Chinese Gardens and the Chinese Elite for centuries, this pillow is a marvelously elegant and very special part of a larger bed ensemble, yet can stand by itself as a wonderfully comfortable and charmingly tasteful not far work of art. The inspiration for this particular piece was an 18th Century Chinese Silk ceremonial robe. It is 70% silk, 30% cotton with Vermicelli stitching.
18″ by 18″, this gorgeous pillow is feather filled, with 5% Down Fill inserts and is dry cleanable. The quilting itself provides a lush and very tasteful craftsmanship that is rare and quite unique in itself. The smoothness of the silk fabric is cool to the touch and marvelously-colored, using the muted blues which most resemble the sky on a Summer day. The floral motif simply sings elegance as the flowers open on tendrils of gorgeous blue-grey vine stems. This is a breath-takingly beautiful piece of bedroom art. Imported from China, the expectations of elegance and pride are implicit in the product. Josie Natori is famous for combining balance and harmony in her sponsored products and this isn't exception.

Many people have their vision for their perfect bedroom in mind. Their dream bedroom, if you like, with pun intended over here. Alas, that vision cannot always be fulfilled all at once. Budget considerations are all as well typical for many families and individuals in their first home, requiring modular long-term planning.
The best thing to do, with your bedroom or other rooms, is plan your phases. Start with the basics, and add on, but do not compromise for cheap sets at any stage. Take this bed for example. It is very simple in design, but is yet a solid buy and an investment for the future. Engineered wood with wild walnut finish make this a solid piece that will stand the mark of time.

You can later on add other pieces from the very same set, as your budget allows. A dresser, a chest, a nightstand and even a wall mirror, are all available with the very same design and finish.
Its design as well, is timeless. Clean contemporary lines that can be incorporated into nearly any room decor style you may choose in the future. Pair it with the mattress of your choice, and you have your very basic, yet satisfactory bedroom furniture. It has been defined as “high country”, as the simplicity of the wood echo the simple rough lines of American country furniture. It will not be out of place in any Country-themed bedroom, for sure!
