There is a remedy for rooms that make you claustrophobic. The antidote for cramped or windowless spaces is to paint a continuous landscape mural on every wall and the ceiling, to trick the eye into believing you are outside with lots of room to run in every direction. Perspective drawing of your favorite landscape is all you need to turn your room into a relaxing, beautiful environment.
Covering your wall with a beautiful detailed mural can be the key to any fantasy room. If you can bring it alive in your art, or if you can hire the right person to do that, you have the opportunity to bring your fantasy to life.
A wall mural is a way to bring the outdoors inside, using artistic inspiration. It does not have to be perfectly realistic, either. Letting the imagination run wild can be the key to some very interesting artistic creations which can inspire you and those who share the room with you.
A room mural is perfect for kids, adults and elders. Teenagers and convalescents will find room murals to be especially helpful when they lack the mobility they crave. The mural gives them the feeling of being outside, roaming freely.? Adventure landscapes spark kids's imaginations.? Office workers can become more inventive and industrious when they are treated to inspiring views.
When choosing furniture for a room with picture painted walls, be sure to pick items that will enhance rather than cover or clash with the painted scenes. For instance: If your room is painted to look like a desert, then large embroidered pillows and low laying ottomans would give the d?cor the feel of a Bedouin tent. If your room is painted to look like rolling hills covered in vineyards, then using furniture you'd find in a winery garden would fit the scene.

Santa Fe style, also known as American Southwest, has a unique and very trendy look and feel to it. Think about it. This decorating style combines Native American and Spanish influences with the original American colonial style. So much history enveloped in this one sentence. So much variety in this one style.
Decorating a la Santa Fe can be a challenge. Characterized by bright colors, Native American patterns and designs and rough-hewn furniture, this style can be daunting to attempt at home without the help of a professional.
What you could do is start with a single item like this one:

This crafted solid oak and 100% leather recliner is part of the Santa Fe Collection by Coaster Furniture. It is very softcore Santa Fe though. While it will fit in perfectly with a Southwest themed room, it is rather tame and can fit into many other decor styles as well (as demonstrated in this picture). A good idea would be to begin with a piece like this recliner, then gradually add more Santa Fe touches around it. Think Navajo rugs and some bright fabrics and decor items, and you'll be heading in the right direction: Southwest.

The art of stamping has been improving the look of people's homes for hundreds and even thousands of years. Stamping allows you to create a consistent design over a big area. Whether you use the very same colors to create an identical repeating image, or whether you use a dissimilar color each time, your pattern will look cohesive if you use a stamp.
Stamps can be made from many materials, including natural latex, wood, and potatoes.
The easiest do-it-yourself stamp is made from a potato, cut open to expose a flat surface. After drawing the design on the flat surface of the potato, use a craft knife to cut away any area you do not want to display up in your image. The remaining material should form the shape of your flat image of choice. Dab that surface in ink or paint, and you have a stamp that is reusable and biodegradable.
Now you are ready to personalize your interior decor. Stamps make good border designs on floors, along the perimeter of ceilings, the backs of chairs, the perimeter of tables, the tops of walls, and fabric for curtains, bedspreads, pillow covers, furniture slip covers, and anyplace you'd like to create beautiful designs. If you use the very same stamps on the furniture, curtains, bedspread, the tops of the walls, and the perimeter of the floor, you create harmonious room decor.

Many people have their vision for their perfect bedroom in mind. Their dream bedroom, if you like, with pun intended over here. Alas, that vision cannot always be fulfilled all at once. Budget considerations are all as well typical for many families and individuals in their first home, requiring modular long-term planning.
The best thing to do, with your bedroom or other rooms, is plan your phases. Start with the basics, and add on, but do not compromise for cheap sets at any stage. Take this bed for example. It is very simple in design, but is yet a solid buy and an investment for the future. Engineered wood with wild walnut finish make this a solid piece that will stand the mark of time.

You can later on add other pieces from the very same set, as your budget allows. A dresser, a chest, a nightstand and even a wall mirror, are all available with the very same design and finish.
Its design as well, is timeless. Clean contemporary lines that can be incorporated into nearly any room decor style you may choose in the future. Pair it with the mattress of your choice, and you have your very basic, yet satisfactory bedroom furniture. It has been defined as “high country”, as the simplicity of the wood echo the simple rough lines of American country furniture. It will not be out of place in any Country-themed bedroom, for sure!

over here's a cool way to make a little boy happy: let him sleep in a race car!
And it's not just any race car either – it's modeled after the Disney Pixar character from the movie “Cars” Lightning McQueen. It's a great movie, for the entire family, and a great character, deserving the honor of putting your kids to sleep.

In terms of design, it's a classic addition to the kids's room, in bright red, soothed any color of linen you choose to cover the mattress with. Blue makes a great choice, soothing and providing a nice contrast to the bright red. The design is bound to appeal to the kids, with its rich and detailed depiction of wheels and hubcaps.
Keep in mind that this is an extremely dominant piece of furniture in any room. It requires enough visual space around it, and like any red sports car, it is an attention grabber! Make sure you team it up with more subtle items and room decor for a good balanced result.

Shapes of objects in a room can be viewed as part of a pattern. In this case, those squares in the back of the chairs, along with the general rectangular lines, give this setting a modern geometric feel. Echoed in the rug, and themes in neutral tones that complement the dark mahogany wood, this is a rather formal dining area, suitable for smaller rooms.

The very same furniture could possibly get a softer look, if combined with different colors, and perhaps teamed up with a few soft cushions, however, its very design lends itself best to a formal contemporary style.

Stenciled designs are a great way to liven up your interior decor.
They are so versatile, you can stencil nearly anything. You can stencil wool floors, hardboard, walls, ceilings, furniture, and even fabric.
To create a stencil, lay a photocopy of the pattern you wish to cut out, over the sheet of acetate, and tape it down so that it won't shift. Using a craft knife, cut through the photocopy of the design, and through the acetate backing, along the outlines of the shapes you wish to create with the stencil. Then when you lay your stencil over the surface you wish to decorate, dab the paint in the cut out area with the end of the paint brush. When you lift the stencil, you'll have a perfect design, every time!
Use this technique to make attractive borders around room ceilings, the perimeter of the floor, the backs of chairs, curtain ends, window and door frames, and anywhere you'd like a bit of excitement. Your room decor will be uniquely your own when you add this personal touch. Stenciling is fun for all ages, and there are stencil designs to fit every room in the home. Why not attempt one today?

When choosing furniture for your babies, toddlers, and kids, you have several things to keep in mind. How safe is this product? Does it meet the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC ) safety guidelines? That may not be enough. The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) sets a higher safety standard for certification than the CPSC does. The JPMA certified product index gives you a constantly updated list of manufacturers of JPMA-certified baby cribs.
But is that enough? While JPMA may certify that there is no lead in the furniture paint, there may be other toxic substances that JPMA doesn't check for, and aren't regulated in the industry. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and formaldehyde are found in many conventional paints, paint strippers, varnishes, furniture oils, caulking, glues, adhesives, and wood preservatives. You need to check what emissions are wafting out of the furniture with the cute decorations. There is nothing cute about sick babies.
The other thing you need to consider is how easy it will be to clean the furniture. Juveniles aren't sterile beings; you will be doing lots of wiping, moping, and disinfecting. Take that into account when you choose furniture. Is it easy to clean underneath? Does it have molding and decorative grooves that will be difficult to scrub? Where might the germs and dust hide from you? Choosing kid's furniture is all about foresight and prevention.

Are you going bankrupt trying to buy a matching dining room set? There's no need! By mixing and adapting disparate designs, we can create a cohesive and attractive dining room decor scheme that you adore. It just requires a bit of thought and a few tools.
Four different chairs can feel like a set if painted the very same color, and stenciled with the very same designs. Use the very same stencil to ring the edge of the table with a border design, and viola! You have a matching set of chairs and table (even if you got each piece at a separate garage sale). This can also be done with rubber stamp art. Painting the furniture all the very same color and then using ink or paint in a contrasting color to stamp the very same design on each piece of furniture will unify the decor theme.
Using the very same fabric to cover or upholster the chairs, and then using that fabric as a border on the table cloth and runners for the china cabinet will create a consistent theme as well. The eye will be drawn to the commonality of the color and texture, rather than the difference in the shape of each chair.
Remember that your dining room is where you eat and converse with friends and family, so dining room decor should not impede easy access, cleaning, or comfort. It is more crucial to have each chair be user friendly, than to have them match perfectly.

Solid wood is a classic way to create a distinguished opulent look and feel in a room, but not the only way, as this brown chaise lounger proves so well.

The cherry finished legs are beautiful but they aren't that dominant in the overall look. What makes this piece of furniture so luxurious is the very shape of the chaise lounger – inviting for a single person to put his or her feet up and relax in peace.
The color is crucial as well, brown as wood, it's both soothing and masculine at the very same time, making this lounger a perfect choice for offices and waiting rooms, as well as a more official living room. It could also work well in a more masculine bedroom, but do not be afraid to soften it a little with a nice warm throw, ready to be wrapped around some lucky person's shoulders.
And if you think a lounger isn't functional enough, keep in mind that this one hides plenty of storage room there as well, right under that seat.

The dark Cherry Rosewood finish is amazing on this piece of furniture, isn't it?

That alone spells out elegance. Add to that the flowing design a la Ming dynasty and you get a perfect stand for a goldfish bowl, or, if you prefer to keep it vegetarian, for a vase or a planter.
While the style is Chinese and Oriental, take note that it would look good in any upscale room, and can blend in with an eclectic collection of other pieces. Casual it isn't, though, and requires some formality around it to fit in properly. So, think Oriental, but think Chinese Emperors rather than peasants.
